Don't expect too much

Shangbixiang Street is a bustling old street with many vendors selling vegetables and snacks. Recently, there has been a lot of queues at a store selling crispy lotus root balls, right opposite Harbin Old Noodle Cakes. I queued up to buy a leek box to eat while queuing.

The photos in the notes were taken directly from the phone's camera. They were fried on the spot and looked indeed very tempting. On the homepage, I also saw that some netizens were planning to make this an Internet celebrity. Let's talk about it from two aspects:

Recommendation: The diced lotus roots should be finely chopped, but they should have a proper granular texture and taste great when chewed. The heat control for frying is very good, so the round balls have a layer of crispy skin.

Not recommended: The taste is too thin, only seasoned with ginger and scallions. It always seems to lack layers. It's fine to eat it immediately after purchase. If it's kept for a long time, the taste will be compromised. Don't expect it to be as suitable for making dishes as meatballs. I've tried it and it falls apart easily. Even if the round balls haven't spread out, they won't taste good if they become soft.

So these lotus root balls are suitable for those who prefer a light taste and can be eaten immediately after purchase. Ten yuan each time will do. Eighteen yuan per jin is a bit too much.
